Wreaths for vets’ graves

Once again, Windham’s Studio Flora shop and owner Libby Jordan, will be the headquarters for making wreaths for each veteran’s grave in all the town’s cemeteries. You can help by making a donation, tying bows, decorating the wreaths and distribution. If you’d like to be part of this true community effort, stop in at Studio Flora, 889 Roosevelt Trail or call 892-7523. The wreath laying will take place at Arlington and Smith cemeteries at 9 a.m. The other town cemeteries will be covered during the weekend. If you have an organization that would like to participate, please contact Dave at 892-1306.

Senior Christmas lunch

On Monday, Dec. 7, the Lakes Region Senior Center will hold a Christmas luncheon and party at the Windham Veterans Center, in back of Hannaford on Memorial Drive. Social hour is at 11 a.m. and luncheon is at noon. If you plan to attend, the cost is $5 for members and $9 for guests, payable at the door. Sign up at the Senior Center or call Kim at 892-6326 by Dec. 2 to provide a head count. The buffet includes Caesar salad, garlic mashed potato, squash, pork loin with gravy, baked haddock with crumb topping, rolls, apple crisp and beverages. Feel free to bring a non-perishable food item for the Food Pantry container.

TRIAD meeting

The next meeting of the Westbrook-Gorham-Windham TRIAD will be held on Dec. 11 at 9 a.m. at 22 Foster St., Westbrook. Guest speaker will be from AARP, speaking about scams. For more information contact Windham Police Officer Patricia Buck at 892-2525.

American Legion meets

American Legion Field-Allen Post 148 will meet on Wednesday, Dec. 2, at the Windham Veterans Center. There will be a festive dinner and social gathering at 5 p.m. followed by a 6 p.m. business meeting. Membership reminder: the goal is to be at 100 percent membership by the end of December.

Last call for toy workshop, Christmas baskets

Through Thursday, Dec. 3, Windham Food Pantry will be taking applications for Christmas baskets and the annual Toy Workshop. Applications must be in person Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. No phone calls, please. Reminder – programs are for Windham residents only and require proof of residency.

Help for veterans

On Wednesdays, Dec. 9 and 23, Veterans Service Officer, Matt Haley, will be at the Windham Veterans Center to answer questions and assist veterans and their dependents. You do not need an appointment. Made in Maine Fair

On Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 5-6, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Route 302, Windham, will hold a Made in Maine Christmas Craft Fair from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Included are raffles for a homemade quilt and flat screen TV, Cafe? all day Saturday, brunch on Sunday; home baked goods, theme and holiday gift baskets, Christmas decorating items, hand knits, hand sewn items, jewelry, kids’ corner, gift certificates and tickets for theaters, museums, restaurants and many local businesses.
