Sebago Signworks opened its second location in Standish last week at the intersection of routes 35 and 114, and owner Devin Fahie said business is already going strong. He said customers found their way through his door before he had put the “open” sign out.

“I just wanted to make a presence in another area,” said Fahie. His previous location is on the other side of Sebago Lake in Raymond and he said he wanted to make it easier for more people to get to his business. Fahie said he has been in business for about eight years.

Barbara Clark, executive director of the Sebago Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce, said the town of Standish is doing a lot to encourage business growth. The Sebago Signworks ribbon-cutting ceremony was the third such event in Standish she had attended that week.

“We’re on a roll, you could say,” said Clark of the local business community.

Sebago Signworks does a large variety of graphic design and sign making work, from the new Standish logo on the Public Works vehicles to the large map of Maine backdrop behind the news anchors for local ABC affiliate WMTW.

“We’ve done pretty much every sign on this corner,” said Fahie, speaking of his work for the other businesses around the new store. His company’s work adorns everything from trucks to storefronts.

“We do all sorts of signs, but we specialize in printed and vinyl signs,” said Fahie.

The counter at the new location is decorated with a colorful map of Standish painted directly onto the wood. Businesses that have been customers of Sebago Signworks are drawn onto the map, as well as public buildings like Bonny Eagle High School.

“We’ll come in and add new ones from time to time,” said artist Perry Clark. He does graphic design and a variety of hands-on artistry for various clients.

Fahie is proud of the quality of the work he does and is optimistic about the new location.

“I think hopefully, we’ll be around for a while,” he said.
