Once again, the Standish Sno Seekers are hosting their annual “Winterfest 2006” on Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Standish Boat Launch.

Breakfast will be served from 8 to 10 a.m. with ham/egg/cheese breakfast sandwiches, coffee and hot chocolate.

At 9 a.m. there will be snowmobile safety check, and everyone is encouraged to attend this important community service. Sign up for the Poker Run from 9 to 10 a.m.

The Poker Run begins at 10 a.m. and the best hand will receive $200; the second best hand receives $100; and the third best will receive $50.

Lunch will be served between 11 a.m. and noon and will feature deliciously grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, soda, snacks, hot chocolate and coffee.

Snowmobile clubs are an important part of this very popular sport, and the Sno Seekers count on the proceeds from the Winterfest and Poker Run, our largest fund raising event of the year. These funds are sorely needed to groom the town’s 62 miles of trails, as well as for maintaining the equipment to do not only the grooming, but the building and repair of bridges over the trails, signs to mark the trails and the like.

The club welcomes new members and encourage everyone to attend our meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at the Steep Falls Fire Barn on the Boundary Road. A pot luck dinner begins the meeting at 6:30 p.m. and is followed by the general business meeting at 7:30 p.m. For more information, call Dan Young – 642-8319; Brenda Walker – 642-2083; or Daphne Lindell – 655-2911.
