AUGUSTA — A special election to fill the seat vacated by the resignation of Sen. David Trahan, R-Waldoboro, will be held Feb. 14, Secretary of State Charles Summers announced today.
Trahan resigned Dec. 31 because he accepted a job with the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine. He represented Senate District 20, which covers 19 towns in Lincoln County, two in Knox County and the Kennebec County town of Windsor.
Party candidates should contact their local party committee to be considered for the nomination. Non-party candidates have until Jan. 17 to turn in 200 signatures to the secretary of state to qualify for the ballot.
