ASHLAND — Northern Maine will be the latest stop for a panel that’s studying how development will be regulated in Maine’s 10 million-acre Unorganized Territory.
The Land Use Regulation Commission reform panel will hold a work session Thursday in Ashland. Future meetings are planned in Greenville and Calais.
The 13-member study panel was formed through a legislative directive in the wake of questions about whether the present Land Use Regulation Commission should be dismantled or reformed. The study group must present its final recommendations to the Legislature by Jan. 4.
The Ashland meeting’s agenda includes a discussion with Aroostook County Commissioner Paul Underwood to consider a county perspective.
