SACO — Thornton Academy used 13 wins to sweep the York County Track and Field Championships on Saturday.

The Thornton Academy girls team had six wins as they won the meet with 153 points. Massabesic was second with 137 points and Noble was third with 101 points. Biddeford finished fifth and Sanford was sixth.

On the boys’ side of things, the Golden Trojans won the meet with 146 points ”“ well ahead of second-place Sanford’s 98 points. Biddeford was fifth and Massabesic finished seventh.

Tori Daigle and Victoria Lux led the TA girls with two wins apiece. Daigle won the long jump and the triple jump, while Lux picked up wins in the shot put and discus.

Also winning for the Trojans were Alexandra Pettaway in the 100 meters and Olivia Libby in the 300 hurdles.

Massabesic’s girls team picked up six wins in the meet. Karissa Lambertson won the 400; Emily Wasina captured the 1,600; Gabby Johnson won the 3,200; Mariah Biener won the high jump and Kym Hendricks won the javelin. The Mustangs also won both the 1,600 relay and the 3,200 relay.

The Biddeford girls got a win from Conchita Thomas in the 200.

Thornton Academy’s boys were led by Dylan Smith, who won both the 200 meters and the long jump.

Thornton’s Derek Boissonault won the 100, while Tyler Lebel won the 800 and Ian Marshall won the 1,600 meter race walk.

The Trojans would also win the 400 relay and the 1,600 relay.

Biddeford’s Justin Gagnon had a strong day as he captured the 110 hurdles and the triple jump.

The Tigers also got wins from Matt Brady in the shot put and Connor Bouffard in the 1,600.

Sanford was led by Nick Love, who won the discus, and Pete Hegarty, who picked up a win in the pole vault.

Michael Aboud won the 3,200 meters to lead the Massabesic boys.

Baseball

Richmond 14, Old Orchard Beach 8

The host Seagulls jumped out to an early 6-0 lead, but were unable to hold on as Richmond rallied for the win on Saturday.

OOB scored four runs in the first and then single runs in the second and third to take the lead through three frames.

The Seagulls would also add runs in the fourth and fifth, but Richmond exploded for 14 runs in the final four innings.

Evan O’Donnell led OOB with two hits and two RBIs.

Mason Beaudoin, Thomas Fregeau and Logan Melnick also added hits for the Seagulls.

Matt Hurley, Dustin Brown and Cody Blanchette shared the pitching duties for OOB.
