CANTON — Residents of Canton are going to be short on water until the community’s reservoir refills after a water main broke, draining the reservoir.
Canton Assistant Fire Chief Mark Blanchette says firefighters were flushing hydrants at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday when the 8-inch main broke.
The main was shut down until repairs can be completed today.
Blanchette tells the Sun Journal it will take 10 to 12 hours to refill the reservoir.
He says that until the reservoir is full again, residents can only expect a trickle of water from their taps.
