PORTLAND — Portland police say they had to use a Taser to subdue a man who threatened to harm employees of a Portland strip club this afternoon.
Paul D. Champagne, 46, of Portland was taken into custody after being disabled by a Taser, a weapon that discharges an electrical pulse.

The confrontation with police took place in the parking lot outside PT’s Showclub, 200 Riverside St.
Sgt. Ben Noyes fired the Taser at Champagne to avoid violence, Lt. Gary Hutcheson said.
Police said Champagne did not display a weapon, but was later found to be armed with a sheathed dagger that had been concealed under his shirt. The dagger hung from a necklace.
Champagne suffered some facial bruises during the arrest.
He was taken to the Cumberland County Jail where he was charged with refusing to submit to arrest, carrying a concealed weapon, terrorizing, criminal threatening, and disorderly conduct. His bail was set at $500 cash.
