HOLLIS — A Sanford man was shot today while turkey hunting in a field off Route 35.
Mark Lemieux, 44, suffered injuries to his legs, chest and head, according to the Maine Warden Service. The shot was fired by his uncle, 69-year-old Gerard Lemieux of Gorham.
Mark Lemieux was treated and released from Goodall Hospital.
The incident is under investigation by the Maine Warden Service.
Today is the first day of the spring wild turkey hunting season. The season runs through June 4 in wildlife management districts 7, 10-26 and 28.
