MILTON, Vt. — Heavy rain and high water are hampering the ongoing search for the body of a 26-year-old fisherman swept into Vermont’s Lamoille River last month in Milton.
Milton Police Chief Brett Van Noordt says the search is continuing, but the high water and flooding has slowed it considerably.
David Driscoll of Essex was fishing on Arrowhead Lake on April 12 when the small boat he was in was swept against a dam. Driscoll’s companion was pulled to safety.
The Burlington Free Press says Milton police have had help from the Down East Emergency Medicine Institute in Bangor, Maine.
The organization assisted in the 2008 search for a missing Middlebury College student whose body was found in the Otter Creek three months after he disappeared.
