AUGUSTA — Flags will be flown at half staff from sunrise to sunset on Friday, Nov. 19, in remembrance of a New Portland soldier who was killed last week in Afghanistan.
In honor of Cpl. Andrew L. Hutchins, Gov. John Baldacci has directed that the United States flag and the state of Maine flag be flown at half-mast.
Hutchins, 20, was a military policeman serving with the 101st Airborne Division from Fort Campbell, Ky. He was killed Nov. 8 while guarding a military base in Afghanistan.
The funeral for Hutchins will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 19, at the Augusta Armory.
