PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Phillies filled their biggest need quickly.

Right-hander Zack Wheeler and the Phillies agreed to a $118 million, five-year contract, two people familiar with the deal told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

Both people spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the agreement, which is subject to a successful physical, had not been announced.

Wheeler stays in the NL East after spending his first seven seasons with the New York Mets. He was 11-8 with a 3.96 ERA last season.

BRAVES: Left-hander Cole Hamels agreed to an $18 million, one-year contract.

Hamels, 35, gives the Braves a veteran to replace Julio Teheran, who became a free agent after his team option was declined.

Hamels spent the last two seasons with the Chicago Cubs. He went 7-7 with a 3.81 ERA in 27 starts last season.

RED SOX: Boston signed infielder Marco Hernandez and left-hander Josh Osich to one-year contracts.

They were the only two players the team non-tendered at Monday’s deadline, making them free agents.

Hernandez, 27, played in 61 games with the Red Sox last year after missing most of the previous two seasons recovering from left shoulder surgery. He batted .250 with two homers and 11 RBI.

Osich, 31, pitched four years for the Giants before making 57 appearances for the White Sox last season, setting career highs with 672/3 innings and 61 strikeouts.

ANGELS: Los Angeles acquired right-hander Dylan Bundy from the Orioles in a trade for four minor league pitchers.

Bundy, 27, went 15-30 with a 5.13 ERA and 70 home runs allowed during the Orioles’ last two miserable seasons, but he has started at least 28 games in three straight years while averaging 168 innings.

Baltimore got right-handers Isaac Mattson, Zach Peek, Kyle Bradish and Kyle Brnovich.

n The Angels have reached a proposed agreement to stay in Anaheim through 2050 as part of a deal in which they will pay $325 million to buy Angel Stadium and its surrounding parking lots from the city.

COMEBACK PLAYERS: Cleveland Indians pitcher Carlos Carrasco and Atlanta Braves third baseman Josh Donaldson won Comeback Player of the Year awards.

Carrasco was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia in early June, missed three months while undergoing treatment and returned to the Indians in a relief role in September.

Donaldson, who played only 52 games for Toronto and Cleveland in 2018 because of injuries, bounced back to hit 37 home runs and drive in 94 runs for Atlanta.
