BRUNSWICK — Grant DeWald kicked a 25-yard field goal with 1 minute, 14 seconds left in regulation to lift Bates to a 10-7 win over Bowdoin and give the Bobcats the Colby-Bates-Bowdoin title Saturday.

Bates took the lead late in the third quarter on a 3-yard run by Shaun Carroll, which capped a 10-play, 61-yard drive.

Tyler Grant of Bowdoin then scored on a 3-yard run with 8:36 remaining in the fourth to tie the game.

Grant rushed 27 times for 151 yards for Bowdoin (2-5). Carroll rushed for 83 yards for Bates (3-4).

TUFTS 28, COLBY 7: Greg Lanzillo had three catches for 120 yards and three touchdowns as the Jumbos rolled past the Mules in Somerville, Massachusetts.

Tufts jumped out to a 28-0 lead on the three Lanzillo scores and a 24-yard punt return for a touchdown by Christian Proctor.

Luke Duncklee scored on a 2-yard run for the Mules (1-6).

SALVE REGINA 21, MAINE MARITIME ACADEMY 19: The Mariners amassed 343 combined rushing yards but came up short against the Seahawks in Middletown, Rhode Island.

Quarterback Michael Fahey led Maine Maritime (3-4) with 164 yards on 37 carries and a pair of rushing touchdowns.

HUSSON 42, ANNA MARIA 20: John Smith rushed 28 times for 189 yards and three touchdowns as the Eagles came from behind to beat the Amcats in Bangor.

Anna Maria took a 14-0 lead in the second quarter before Husson got on the board with a 57-yard pass from Joe Seccareccia to Joe Farrell.

The pair hooked up again, this time for 21 yards, to tie it in the third quarter. Anna Maria took the lead back on its next possesion, but Husson scored the last 28 points.

Women’s soccer

WILLIAMS 1, COLBY 0: Lilly Wellenbach scored at the 66:09 mark as the top-seeded Ephs shut out the Mules in a New England Small College Athletic Conference quarterfinal in Williamstown, Massachusetts.

Williams (15-1) had a 20-3 edge in shots. Emily Brook stopped eight shots for Colby (7-8-1). Hannah Van Wetter had two saves for Williams.

GORDON 1, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 0: Taylor McSherry scored on a breakaway with 2:01 left in regulation as the No. 5 Fighting Scots (13-6-0) edged the No. 4 Nor’easters (11-4-2) in the Commonwealth Coast Conference quarterfinals in Biddeford.

UNE outshot Gordon 17-5. McKenzie Dion stopped all nine shots she faced for Gordon, while Brielle Robinson had one save for UNE.

KEENE STATE 5, SOUTHERN MAINE 0: Katie Silegy and Morgan Kathan scored two minutes apart late in the first half to extend Keene State’s (12-9, 5-2 LEC) lead to 4-0 over the Huskies (2-14-3, 0-6-1) in Gorham.

Taylor Farland and Shannon Hart scored early in the half to give the Owls a 2-0 lead. Marianna Porcello scored in the second half.

Marissa Temple made 11 saves for Southern Maine.

BOWDOIN 4, TUFTS 0: Jamie Hofstetter had a goal and an assist to help the Polar Bears (11-3, 8-2) earn a trip to the NESCAC semis in Brunswick.

Abby Einwag, Amanda Kinneston and Julie Bottone also scored for Bowdoin. Bridget McCarthy had four saves for the Polar Bears.

Field hockey

MIDDLEBURY 4, COLBY 1: Catherine Fowler scored a pair of unassisted goals and the Panthers (15-1) beat the Mules (9-7) in a NESCAC quarterfinal in Middlebury, Vermont.

Annie Leonard and Shannon Hutteman also scored for Middlebury. Erin Maguire put Colby on the board with 2:29 left.

Sarah Evans made 11 saves for Colby.

BOWDOIN 6, HAMILTON 0: Rachel Kennedy scored two early goals and the top-ranked Polar Bears (15-1, 9-1) beat No. 8 Hamilton (6-10, 2-8) in the NESCAC quarterfinals in Brunswick.

Adrienne O’Donnell also had two goals, while Pam Herter and Kimmy Gagnon each had one goal.

FITCHBURG STATE 2, SOUTHERN MAINE 1: Madeline Hoffman had a goal and an assist to lead Fitchburg State (7-10, 3-8) over the Huskies (8-12, 5-6) in a Little East Conference game in Gorham.

Lucy Holewa had five saves for Fitchburg State, while Amanda Kasbohm had four for USM.

Men’s soccer

NICHOLS 2, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 0: Rielee Mohsin and Cooper Milano each scored a goal as the top-ranked Biston (12-2-4, 6-1-2) beat No. 8 UNE (9-7-2, 3-51) in a CCC quarterfinal in Dudley, Massachusetts.

Aidan McParland had nine saves for UNE.

AMHERST 1, COLBY 0: Greg Singer scored the only goal of the game 2:15 in as the second-seeded Jeffs (12-1-3, 7-1-2) held off No. 7 Colby in a NESCAC quarterfinal in Amherst, Massachusetts.

Amherst, which advances to play No. 1 Tufts in the semifinals, took 18 shots in the first half. Colby goalie John Pappas had six saves in the first half and finished with seven. Thomas Bull had one save for Amherst.

KEENE STATE 8, SOUTHERN MAINE 1: Riley Steele and Promise Kpee each had two goals as the Owls (11-6-1, 4-2-1) beat the Huskies (2-15-2, 0-6-1) in an LEC game in Keene, New Hampshire.

Tyler Rand scored for the Huskies, with an assist from Jonathan Varney.

Mike Ketterman and Jacob Walker combined for two saves for Keene. Elijah Leverett had seven saves and Charles Mull two for USM.

BOWDOIN 2, WILLIAMS 1: Sam White scored in the 79th minute to lift No. 6 Bowdoin (9-6-1, 4-5-1) to a NESCAC quarterfinal win over No. 3 Williams (8-6-2, 6-3-1) in Williamstown, Massachusetts.

The Polar Bears will face No. 4 Middlebury in the semifinals next Saturday.

Nabil Odulate scored early in the second half to give Bowdoin a 1-0 lead. Williams tied it four minutes later on a goal by Matt Muralles.

Stevie Van Siclen had two saves for Bowdoin, while Christian Alcorn had four for Williams.

Women’s hockey

MAINE 1, NORTHEASTERN 0: Kristin Gilmour scored the only goal of the game as the Black Bears (4-5-2, 3-1-1 America East) shut out the Huskies (2-4-3, 1-2-0) in Boston.

Brooke Stacey and Morgan Sakundiak assisted on Gilmour’s goal at 11:02 of the first period.

Mariah Fujimagari had 29 saves for Maine. Chloe Desjardins had 28 for Northeastern.

Men’s hockey

SOUTHERN MAINE 3, STONEHILL 2: Stephen Gallo, Alex Tobey and Todd Bannerman each scored as the Huskies (1-0) opened a 3-0 first-period lead against Stonehill (0-2) in Gorham.

The Skyhawks pulled within two on second-period goals by Robbie Dorgan and Kevin Aufiero, but Southern Maine goalie Kyle Shapiro stopped all nine shots he faced in the third period to preserve the win.

Men’s basketball

SOUTHERN MAINE C.C. 84, NAVY PREP 80: Tyheem Simon led the way with 17 points and eight rebounds as the Seawolves (4-0) beat the Midshipmen (1-2) in two overtimes at South Portland.

SOUTHERN MAINE 78, MAINE 73: Zach Leal’s 15 points led the Huskies during an exhibition victory over Maine in Gorham.

Jacob Littlefield added 12 for Southern Maine, and Sean Caddigan 11. Alex Fraser came off the bench with an additional 11 points. The Black Bears were led by 23 points and 19 rebounds by Till Gloger. Shaun Lawton added 16 points and Kevin Little 13.
