A crash in Enfield on Saturday killed one person and sent six others to the hospital.
The crash occurred around 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Route 2 with Mohawk Road, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office. Preliminary information indicates a sport utility vehicle traveling north crossed over the centerline, hitting another SUV traveling south.
A woman in the southbound SUV was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Chief Deputy Troy Morton.
Some of the six taken to hospitals were transported by LifeFlight helicopters and some by ambulance, Morton said.
No identifications will be released until the victims’ families are notified, Morton said.
The crash is being investigated by the sheriff’s office.
