HARTFORD, Conn. — Brett Gorman singled home the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th inning, and Bowdoin extended its winning streak to six games with a 9-7 baseball victory Friday over Trinity.

Brendan Garner led off the 10th with a walk, stole second and scored on a single by Gorman to snap a 5-5 tie. Dan Findley doubled home Gorman, and the Polar Bears (14-3, 1-0 NESCAC) added two more runs on an error and an RBI single by Reid Auger.

Trinity (9-2, 3-1) had 15 hits but stranded 14 runners. 

MAINE SWEEPS NJIT: Joey Martin was 3 for 6 with a home run and six RBI, and Taylor Lewis was 4 for 8 with a triple and five runs scored to help the Black Bears (11-13) earn 7-1 and 11-4 wins over the Highlanders (4-16) at Newark, N.J.

Steve Perakslis won the opener, allowing a run on six hits while striking out seven and walking one in six innings.

Martin had an inside-the-park home run in the first game and broke a 3-3 deadlock in the second game with an RBI single in the fifth.

ST. JOSEPH’S SWEEPS UMF: Todd Keneborus was 5 for 8 with five runs and seven RBI, and Pat Moran and Eric Labatte each drove in five runs to help the Monks (13-7) beat the Beavers (0-8) twice, 14-3 and 13-5 at Standish. 

SMCC SPLITS WITH VERMONT TECH: Charles Boettcher threw a one-hitter as the Seawolves (13-12, 1-1 YSCC) took an 11-0 win in five innings after dropping a 10-3 decision to Vermont Tech (1-3, 1-1) in the opener at South Portland.

Nate Leeman had a two-run single and Montana Colby added a two-run double for SMCC. 

COLBY 13, UMAINE- PRESQUE ISLE 0: Matt Moore pitched a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts and went 3 for 3 with three RBI to lead the Mules (5-5) past the Owls (2-13) at Waterville.

Mike Mastrocola had two hits and three RBI, and Ryan Conlon had a home run and two RBI for Colby. 

TUFTS 5, BATES 2: Frank Petroskey hit a two-run double and Ian Goldberg added an RBI triple as the Jumbos (10-2, 1-0 NESCAC) snapped a scoreless tie in the seventh inning and held off the Bobcats (9-4, 0-1) at Lewiston.

SOFTBALL

USM, HUSSON SPLIT: Katie Davis drove in four runs to lead USM (3-11) to a 4-3 win in the opener, but the Eagles (3-11) came back with an 8-5, darkness-shortened victory in the nightcap at Gorham. 

ST. JOSEPH’S SWEEPS NORWICH: Ellen Neff drove in Maria Labbe in the bottom of the seventh to lift the Monks (15-5, 10-0 GNAC) to a 4-3 win in the opener, and Emily Leverone went 4 for 4 with a home run and three RBI in the second game as St. Joseph’s earned a 9-1 victory over the Cadets (1-17, 0-10) at Standish. 

BOWDOIN 5, TUFTS 4: Gen Barlow hit an RBI single and Clare Ronan scored on a passed ball in the top of the seventh as the Polar Bears (14-5, 1-0 NESCAC) rallied past the Jumbos (7-6, 0-1) at Medford, Mass. 

TRINITY 5, BATES 1: The Bantams (5-7, 1-0 NESCAC) scored four runs in the first inning against the Bobcats (2-9, 0-1) at Hartford, Conn.

ST. JOSEPH’S 13, NORWICH 12: Elizabeth Farley scored on a free position shot with 1:11 left in the fourth overtime to lift the Monks (6-0-1, 3-0 GNAC) over the Cadets (3-3, 2-1) at Portland.

Lauren Hagerman paced the Monks with six goals and two assists.


HOCKEY

University of Maine goaltender Dave Wilson has agreed to an amateur tryout with the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League.

Wilson played in 13 games for the Black Bears this season, finishing with a 3-5 record, a 2.66 goals-against average and an .888 save percentage. He won three games in the Hockey East playoffs, helping Maine reach the championship game.
