Construction on a retail building at Rock Row is well underway and expected to wrap up this summer. Nearly all of the space has been leased. Major tenants include retail Starbucks, Firehouse Subs, Big Fin Poke and UScellular. “With Chick-fil-A and Chase also coming nearby, it’s an exciting time at Rock Row,” Chief Marketing Officer Greg John said. Speeding, lying didn’t pay

A man pulled over by Westbrook police on March 19 for driving 51 miles per hour on Main Street said he didn’t have any ID, so he gave the officer a bogus name, according to a police posting on Facebook.

As it turns out, the person belonging to the bogus name had an outstanding warrant, so the driver was arrested, according to police.

The suspect then admitted he had given a false name, but he actually had a revoked driver’s license and was on probation. He was still jailed.

Friends of Library news

There will also be access to the meeting via Zoom. For more information, call the library at 854-0630 or email info@walkerlibraryfriends.org.

The Friends of the Library is accepting applications from Westbrook High School seniors for a $500 scholarship towards college supplies and books. The essay theme is library memories and what the library has done for them. Contact the library for the application deadline and how to apply.

Kelly Day would to thank all volunteers and donors who dropped off snowflakes to put in the windows of the library during Winterfest.

“It was greatly appreciated by the friends of the library and by the library staff,” she said.
