OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Police in Old Orchard Beach on Sunday were examining video and other evidence following an armed robbery at 7-Eleven at 219 Saco Ave. Saturday night.

Police Capt. David Hemingway said a man entered the store, claimed he had a gun, demanded money and threatened the clerk.

“The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of money from the register and fled the store immediately on foot,” said Hemingway in a news release issued at 11 a.m. Sunday. “Police units responded as well as area agencies to assist in the search. The suspect was not located at that time.”

Police were called to the store just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26.

Hemingway said in addition to the clerk, one customer was in the store at the time of the robbery. No one was injured.

“It is believed the suspect was alone and may have had a vehicle parked nearby at the time of the incident,” said Hemingway.
