Joan Marie (Holland) Campbell

BUXTON – Joan Marie (Holland) Campbell passed away peacefully on Aug. 15, 2022, at the age of 75 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Born in Houlton, Maine, on Feb. 23, 1947, she was the middle daughter of the late Joseph M. and Roberta (Grant) Holland.

Joan grew up in Ft. Fairfield, Maine and attended Ft. Fairfield High School. After high school she continued her education at the University of Maine and graduated with a BA in education in 1969.

In July of that same year she married her high school sweetheart Richard Campbell.

She had many careers during her lifetime including: Special education aid and quality control manager at Imucell. She was also employed by the Foreside Company and most recently helped Richard run Wood Pro of Maine.

She enjoyed dancing, skiing, camping and fishing, though she did not enjoy actually cooking or eating the fish she caught. She also loved exploring the Maine coast, traveling around the U.S. and collecting miniatures for her dollhouse. But no matter how busy she was she always put family first. Spending time with her two children, Amy and Craig, was especially important to her.

Those who knew Joan best will remember her as pragmatic with a silly sense of humor and a generous nature. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years Richard Campbell; children Amy Verock and her husband Frank of Burke, Va. and Craig Campbell and his wife Heidi of Saco; her grandchildren Olivia and Cooper and her sister Janet Behnke.

She was predeceased by her sister Elaine Grant and her husband Norman.
