Disagreement about student loan forgiveness shows how Big Government divides us. As President Biden acknowledged, his forgiveness program does not make everyone happy.
Not elaborating on the moral hazard or degradation of thrift created by the program, the many arguments the public expresses show how Big Government divides us. Like the disagreements over Paycheck Protection Program loans, and the Troubled Asset Relief Program for the banking industry, some are enriched by these programs, while others are left behind.
It is the ever-expanding size of government that is raising the temperature in this country, because so much is at stake and people jostle to curry favor with politicians instead of working hard to innovate and execute products and services for our country.
In the end, the politicians and unelected bureaucrats become richer and more powerful, while we are all poorer and less happy than if we practiced small government and free enterprise.
