A 9-year-old boy was seriously injured Saturday when he was hit by a sport utility vehicle while riding his bicycle in Lewiston.
Police said the collision occurred about 11:20 a.m. on Tall Pines Drive.
The boy suffered what Lewiston police said were life-threatening injuries. He was taken by helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Police said the boy was riding his bike in the road when he was hit by the SUV. The accident is under investigation and no charges had been filed as of Saturday evening.
Police said the name of the boy and the driver of the SUV were not being released immediately.
