I write in support of Megan Lichter for the SAD 51 School Board. I have known Megan and her family since they moved to Cumberland. As a former School Board member for six years and chairperson for two, I know the vital importance of having enthusiastic, intelligent community members step up to serve on the board.
Lichter brings a deep commitment to this community and to public education. I’ve seen her superb listening skills and calm demeanor firsthand, including with her two children who are students in the district. She brings no agenda beyond supporting the continuation of first-class public education in our community. I have confidence that she will make evidence-based decisions on the difficult decisions that face our district in the coming years related to cost containment and the needed expansion of facilities.
