Townwide Survey

The Town of Scarborough is conducting a townwide community survey this fall. It will be administered by an external consultant and mailed to a random sample of households in order for results to be statistically valid. The survey serves to understand resident satisfaction with Town services and leadership direction on various issues. The last survey was done in fall 2021 and the results helped inform leaders of topics to focus on that best reflect the needs of the community, guiding Town Council goals for 2022-23. Surveys will be mailed in mid to late October. Once the statistically valid survey minimum has been met, an online version will be made available for those who did not receive a paper copy.

Traffic and Transportation Planning

The transportation committee is supporting Engineering staff with a Transportation Network Study in spring 2024. Public engagement is underway, including a 9/26 Open House where residents were invited to contribute their thoughts, concerns, and hopes related to Scarborough’s transportation network. The public is still welcome to provide comments related to transportation and traffic in Scarborough (email ablanchette@scarboroughmaine.org).

Revaluation

The Assessor’s office is conducting a town-wide property revaluation in Spring 2024. The intent of the revaluation process is to appraise all property at its current market value, creating a more equitable and fair distribution of the tax burden among taxpayers. The last revaluation was performed in 2019. Details are available on the Assessing page of the Town website.
