I support Wells Lyons for City Council to help Portland navigate its current challenges, starting with the spike in opiate addiction and overdoses. Even those unsympathetic to addicts see the urgency of minimizing the costs of crime, expensive ER visits, and drug-exposed babies. Reduce harm, save lives, and preserve our reputation as a safe city for visitors.

Lyons has modern plans for modern problems: 1. A good Samaritan law, whereby any who call police or first responders to help a person who has overdosed will not face prosecution themselves if they are found with drugs. 2. Establish a treatment program at the Community Health Center administering the newer, more successful and economical Vivitrol treatment. 3. Reuse best practices from treatment providers around the country, funding the programs through public health foundations.
