A leader in the field of sustainable investing will talk about investing for social change at a University of New England lecture Thursday.

Joseph Keefe, president and chief executive officer of Pax World Funds, will deliver the ninth annual Paul D. Merrill Business Ethics Lecture at the Eleanor DeWolfe Ludke Auditorium on UNE’s Portland campus at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Pax World is one of the leading firms focusing on sustainable investing and Keefe has written and spoken extensively on that subject and women’s empowerment. He is co-chair of the Leadership Group for Women’s Empowerment Principles and is chair of the Board of Directors of Women Thrive Worldwide, which is working to direct U.S. assistance and trade policy to help improve the lives of women in developing countries.

In 2014, Keefe was one of five recipients of the United Nations’ Women’s Empowerment Principles Leadership Award and last year the Financial Times named him one of its “top feminist men” for his focus on women who succeed in business.

The lecture is hosted by the University of New England’s Department of Business and is free and open to the public.
