Taylor Mezoian, the class valedictorian, is the daughter of Caroline and Mike Mezoian. She was the president of her class for all four years of high school. Taylor was also a member of the Student Council throughout her entire high school experience, serving as the secretary her sophomore year and president her Junior and senior years. She played on her school’s field hockey team all four years, serving as a tri-captain her junior year and a co-captain her senior year, and was awarded Academic All-State her senior year. She also played tennis her freshman, sophomore, and senior years. Taylor received the Dartmouth University Book Award, and was also the recipient of the Phi Beta Kappa Association of Maine Academic Achievement Award and the Society of Women Engineers Certificate of Appreciation. She has been a member of the National Honor Society since her sophomore year, and was the Vice President of the club her senior year. Taylor was also a member of the Interact Club, Natural Helpers and Jazz Choir, and was a volunteer at Maine Medical Center during her high school career. Next fall Taylor will be attending Providence College on a full academic scholarship. She will be studying Biology in the honors program.

Gillian Foss, the class salutatorian, is the daughter of Lance and Donna Foss. She was president of National Honor Society, a two-year Student Council representative, and a three-year member of the community service-based Interact Club. She played varsity basketball and softball for all four years of high school, and was a co-captain in both sports for her junior and senior years. She also played varsity soccer for two years, and was a co-captain in her senior season; while managing her athletic commitments she also participated as a saxophonist in marching band, jazz ensemble, and concert band. Gillian was the recipient of academic awards in English and history, as well as All-Conference and All-Academic honors for all three of her varsity sports. She was one of two Old Orchard Beach High School students to win a national essay contest last year and represented her high school in Washington D.C. at a prestigious Washington Workshops Congressional Seminar. Next fall, Gillian will be majoring in Journalism in the honors program at Marist College

Maryanne LaFollette is the daughter of Jamie and John LaFollette. She is a member of the National Honor Society, and works part time at a local lawyer’s office after school. She prides herself in participating in community service through various volunteering opportunities, and has dedicated over 150 hours of her time to her church and community. Among one of her most memorable accomplishments was participating in a Hurricane Katrina relief mission, in which she donated a week of her time to feeding the homeless of New Orleans in 2008. Outside of school, Maryanne enjoys the musical arts. She has participated in both her church choir and school jazz choir for four consecutive years, and plays three instruments on the side. Next fall she plans on studying biology in the honors college at the University of Maine, in hopes of attending medical school in years to come.

Victoria Bryan, daughter of Paula and Patrick Bryan, is fourth in the Class of 2011. She was an active member of the Student Council and held the position of Vice President during her junior and senior years. She was also a class officer throughout high school, serving as Secretary her freshman year and Vice President her sophomore, junior and senior years. In addition to her work in student government, Victoria was a member of the National Honor Society, holding the position of Secretary her senior year and was a participant in the Interact Club. Victoria was a three-sport athlete, participating in soccer, basketball and tennis. She served as captain for both tennis and soccer and earned the Western Maine Conference Award as well as the All-Academic Award in soccer. She was also the recipient of the Bowdoin Book Award and the Western Maine Conference Citizenship/Scholar Award. Next fall Victoria will be majoring in history at Susquehanna University.

Shelby Bourgault is the daughter of Janice and Michel Bourgault, and is an active participant in activities both in and out of the high school. Shelby was inducted into the National Honor Society during her sophomore year and has been a principal leader of the Natural Helper club for all four years of high school. A dedicated member of the Old Orchard Beach High School marching band, Shelby has performed with the group since the7th grade. She joined the cheerleading squad in her senior year and plays varsity tennis, for which she was appointed Captain her senior year. During Shelby’s junior year she won an essay contest sponsored by the National Society of the Colonial Dames. She received a weeklong, all-expenses-paid trip to Washington D.C. for her essay about pivotal Supreme Court cases. This September Shelby will be majoring in International Relations at Connecticut College.

Michelle Johnson is the daughter of Sheila and Greg Johnson. She started as an Interact member in her freshman and sophomore years and became the President during her last two years. In her senior year, she became the yearbook editor, snapping photos of fellow students, football games, and editing the pages of the yearbook. Her grades allowed her to be involved in National Honor Society for three years. Michelle’s participation in Student Council started during her sophomore year and ended in her senior year. Her skills in art gained her several awards, and she was voted Most Artistic by her senior class. In the fall, she will be attending University of New England with a major in nursing.

Kelsey Eleanor Koenigs, is the daughter of Mark and Lee Koenigs. She was captain of the varsity soccer team, president of the Natural Helpers her junior and senior year, and was the treasurer of Interact. She earned two State Championships when playing for Maine Coast United Soccer Club. Kelsey was inducted into the National Honor Society her sophomore year, and is only one of two seniors who continued to attend Youth Ministry when St. Margaret’s parish consolidated with Good Shepard’s Parish of Saco. She was a class representative in the high school’s Student Council all four years, and was voted Student Council secretary this year. Next fall Kelsey will be attending Boston University majoring in Public Health with aspirations to continue on to the Peace Corps Master’s International Program as a graduate student.

Brett Allen is the daughter of Brooke and Jim Allen. She was a member of the National Honor Society for her senior year. She played basketball and golf all four years and was co-captain for both of her senior seasons. Brett was Vice President of Interact her senior year and participated in many community service activities her junior and senior years. Next fall Brett will be majoring in geology and creative writing at Southern Maine Community College.

Katie Hatch is the daughter of Kim and Whitney Hatch. She has participated in four high school sports: soccer, basketball, softball, and track, and she earned varsity status in soccer, basketball, and track. She was chosen for the All-Conference team in soccer during her junior and senior years and basketball her senior year. Katie is a member of the National Honor Society and Interact Club, which involved her in helping the community in various venues. She has also been a member of the concert band for three years and the marching band for one year. She plans on pursuing her lifelong dream of becoming an elementary school teacher when she attends New England College in the fall. She will also be continuing her soccer and basketball careers there.

Ariane Bouchard is the daughter of Don Bouchard and Gina Martinez. Ari earned membership in the National Honor Society and worked with the OOBHS Student Council. She played softball her freshman and sophomore years and was member of the varsity field hockey team for all four years of high school. Senior year, Ari was a co-captain of the field hockey team, appointed to the 2010 Western Maine Conference-All Conference Team, and was voted the team’s most valuable player. Ari was also a member of the high school’s Interact Club and Jazz Choir. Next fall, Ari will attend the University of Maine Orono to study Business and Communications.
