PORTLAND — Maine’s two congressional representatives say a screening panel’s been formed to help find a choice for federal judge to recommend to President Obama.

The successful candidate will replace U.S. District Judge D. Brock Hornby. Hornby will transition from active to senior status. He will maintain a full caseload.

The deadline for candidates to submit applications is next Thursday.

The screening panel includes nine prominent lawyers.
