RUMFORD — Officials from Maine papermaking towns say they’re grateful for the stand taken by members of the state’s congressional delegation in an international trade case.
On Friday, they’ll hold a news conference at the NewPage Administration Building in Rumford with Democratic U.S. Rep. Michael Michaud, and representatives of Republican Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins.
Dan Lawson, of the Alliance for American Manufacturing, says papermaking towns are grateful for the delegation’s support in a recent trade case involving alleged paper dumping by Indonesia and China, which hurt Maine mills.
Speakers will also include town managers of Rumford and Mexico, and the head of the Chamber of Commerce in Skowhegan.
Democratic Maine Senate President Elizabeth Mitchell will also speak.
