Roadwork is scheduled to get under way in mid-May on Interstate 295 north of Portland, which could slow northbound traffic.

The Maine Department of Transportation is planning an $8.4 million project of paving and bridgework between the Portland-Falmouth line and Freeport.

Most of the work requiring lane closures will be done at night and on weekends.

Lane closures for the paving and bridge work will be done between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday to minimize traffic impacts.

Work on the Royal River Bridge in Yarmouth will require daytime lane closures which will occur during the weekend, from 9 p.m. Friday to noon Monday, the agency said in a statement.
