LEBANON — A 57-year-old motorcyclist from Illinois was injured this afternoon after he was forced to lay his bike down to avoid a collision with another car.

Jason A. Cole, Lebanon’s Assistant Rescue Chief, said the driver, whose name was unavailable, had to be taken by Lebanon ambulance to Goodall Hospital in Sanford with non-life threatening injuries. The biker is from Woodridge, IIll.

Cole said the motorcyclist was traveling east on Carl Broggi Highway when he braked to avoid hitting a car that had slowed down for turning traffic. The biker was wearing all the right gear including a helmet and leather coat.

The motorcycle did not hit any cars. The biker was returning to Portland from Bike Week in Laconia, N.H. Maine State Police are investigating the accident.
