AUGUSTA — Energy officials say home heating oil prices rose 3 cents a gallon in Maine last week.

The Governor’s Office of Energy Independence and Security said today that the statewide average price for No. 2 heating oil was $2.63 a gallon.

Director John Kerry said growing oil demand, drops in gasoline inventories and the potential for an economic recovery may affect heating oil prices with the arrival of summer.

The lowest average prices were found in southern Maine, while the highest prices were in northern sections.
