Lubec’s Kay captures boys’ division title in New England PGA Junior Championship
Gordon Kay of Lubec won the boys’ 16-18 division in the New England PGA Junior Championship at Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston, Mass.
Kay posted a final-round 76 Thursday to finish at 5-over-par 149, qualifying for the national championship Aug. 2-5 at Fort Wayne, Ind.

HOCKEY: The NCAA has decided against making icing an infraction at all times during college games, even for short-handed teams.
The committee had considered making icing an infraction even for teams defending the power play, saying it would have rewarded speed and skill and helped to create scoring chances. Schools instead recommended that the rule be mandatory for exhibitions only.
