CAPE ELIZABETH – The Cape Elizabeth Land Trust’s third annual Paint for Preservation event, highlighted by the juried Wet Paint Reception and Auction, happens July 18.
During the day of the event, the public is invited to observe 29 artists painting on site at designated public and private locations chosen to highlight Cape Elizabeth’s natural beauty.
That evening, from 5 to 8 p.m., the newly painted artwork will be auctioned at a cocktail reception hosted by Mark and Jeanette Hagen at Breakwater Farm, a seaside location overlooking Richmond Island. The tented, catered event will include hors d’oeuvres, refreshments and a live jazz ensemble. Reservations are required.
The reception will feature the raffle of an original sculpture, “Deer,” by Wendy Klemperer.
Proceeds from the event benefit the trust’s Saving Cape’s Great Places initiative.
Founded in 1985, the Cape Elizabeth Land Trust has permanently protected more than 570 acres. For more information, to make reservations for the auction, and to link to a video showing Klemperer at work, visit www.capelandtrust.org; or call 767-6054.
