AUGUSTA — A Gardiner woman was cleared by a jury Friday of a charge of operating under the influence, but ended up leaving the courtroom in handcuffs.

Myra Vinton, 51, was found not guilty after a jury in Kennebec County Superior Court deliberated less than an hour before returning a verdict in the half-day trial. She was stopped Feb. 11 in Gardiner.

Her trial lawyer was Jonathan Carey.

Prior to the start of the trial, Vinton was arrested on a warrant from Augusta District Court charging her with assault and violating conditions of release. The date of those alleged offenses was unavailable.
