The Net Assets, a local men’s tennis team, won the U.S. Tennis Association League 4.0 New England sectional championship on Aug. 29 and will represent the region in the national championships at Tucson, Ariz., from Oct. 22 to 24.

The team is captained by Jim Whiting of Falmouth and Jonathan Parry of South Portland. It also includes Nick Bournakel, David McClees, Drew Swenson and Anthony Kieffer of Portland; Marcel Guay, Ben Robinson and Michael Waxman of Yarmouth; John Goodrich and Jim Goodbody of Falmouth; Norman Archer of Kennebunkport; Michael Magalski of Kennebunk; Charlie Cianciolo of Gorham; Brandon Delano of Scarborough; Parker Swenson of Cumberland; and Matt Chamberlin of Canton.

 

Joe Lesniak made a hole-in-one on Aug. 26 at the Woodlands. Lesniak used an 8-iron to ace the fifth hole. The shot was witnessed by Alden Weller, Connor Burfeind, Matt Packard and Russell Barnard

 

Pete Wright of Dunegrass Country Club shot a 223 to win the three-day Tri-City (Biddeford, Saco and Old Orchard Beach) Tournament by five strokes. Wright had scores of 75, 71 and 77. The tournament was held at Deep Brook, Dunegrass and Dutch Elm from Sept. 10-12.
