Looking for something fun and family friendly to do this weekend?

The first annual Fitn’Funathon, sponsored by Evergreen Credit Union, is taking place between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday at Skillin Elementary School at 180 Wescott Road in South Portland.

Geared toward families, this free event offers a variety of physical activities, designed to have fun and learn about living a healthy lifestyle at the same time.

“With so much attention and concern centered on children’s health, this event is designed for families to have fun together engaging in healthy and safe physical activities,” Evergreen Credit Union CEO Tucker Cole said.

The Fitn’Funathon will include a soccer and hockey shootout, whiffle ball derby, a kid’s corner, foul shot competition, hula hoop challenge and a one mile run or walk. The run or walk requires a $2 fee to participate and will benefit Skillin Elementary School’s PTA and Maine Credit Union’s End Hunger in Maine Campaign. There will also be wellness displays and health food vendors in attendance, and Survivor winner Bob Crowley is also expected to make an appearance.

“We hope families in South Portland and the surrounding communities come out and get active in the Fitn’Funathon and enjoy several hours of healthy physical fun and activities,” said Cole.

The event will be held rain or shine. For more information, visit www.fitnfunathon.org.
