PORTLAND – A twenty-nine year old Massachusetts man is recovering from a stab wound following a robbery at Grant and State streets early this morniing.

He and a twenty-four year old man were walking at 4:40 a.m. when they were accosted by two men wearing hooded seatshirts and something covering their faces, police said.

The younger man said he believes he was hit on the head with the butt of a handgun. The older victim said that he felt a sharp pain in his back and only later realized that he had been stabbed.

The robbers took money from the men and fled.
