York police charged a South Portland man with driving drunk after he allegedly crashed his Jeep into a utiltiy pole, knocking out power to a neighborhood.

Police were called to 148 Pine Hill Road just after midnight this morning and followed a trail of destruction from a snapped utility pole, to a parked car, over a retaining wall and into another parked car, police said.

Nobody was in the car but a short while later an injured Tyler Strout, 23, returned to the crash scene and was arrested by police on charges of drunk driving and leaving the scene of an accident. Strout was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said.
