ORONO — A visit by the second of four finalists for the top job at the University of Maine is being postponed because of the snow.

Paul Ferguson, Southern Illinois University vice president for academic affairs, was due to spend today and Friday in Orono meeting students, faculty and staff, but his trip was called off because of snow-related travel problems.

Over the next two weeks, there will be additional visits by Daniel Julius, vice president for academic affairs at the University of Alaska System of Higher Education, and Donald Farish, president of Rowan University in New Jersey.

The other finalist, James Page, CEO of James W. Sewall Co., of Old Town, paid a visit earlier this week.

Current UMaine President Robert Kennedy is stepping down in June.
