About 40 athletes from Maine Special Olympics got a chance Thursday afternoon to skate with professionals from Disney On Ice’s “Princess Classics” at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
The athletes got some skating tips and introductions to Disney characters Mickey, Minnie and Goofy.

Kris Allard, a publicist for the show, said all of the athletes were invited to attend Thursday night’s performance.
“It was very heartwarming. The kids haven’t stopped talking about it,” Allard said of the afternoon event.
Performances of “Princess Classics” are scheduled for 7 p.m. today, 11:30 a.m. and 3 and 6:30 p.m. Saturday, and 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $12.50-$55.
