The Black Bear Sportsmanship Academy will be held on Saturday, April 9, for students in grade 8 and below. The program begins at 10:30 a.m. with UMaine athletes leading activities. Those attending will get to watch the Maine softball team face Stony Brook in a doubleheader starting at noon. Twilight Baseball League tryouts will be held on Sunday, May 29, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Frozen Ropes Training Center & Portland Sports Complex on Warren Avenue. There is a $10 tryout fee and the Twilight League is open to any player who turns 19 by Aug. 1 or has spent the 2010-11 academic year in college or prep school.
