PORTLAND — Caley Presby had three hits, including a three-run homer in the first inning, to lead Deering to a 14-6 victory over rival Portland in a Southern Maine Activities Association softball game on Monday afternoon.

Jennifer Lynch added a single, a double and a triple with three runs and three RBI for the host Rams (1-1). Tina Merrill chipped in two hits, three runs and two RBI.

The Bulldogs are 0-1.

 

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 11, FREEPORT 3: Alicia Valente hit a double and a triple and drove in four runs to pace the Patriots (1-1) as they pulled away from the Falcons (1-1) at Gray.

Maggie Chaplin struck out nine batters while pitching a one-hitter for the Patriots and Lindsey Nunley added two hits and one RBI.

Dani Perry hit a three-run single for Freeport to cut the deficit to 5-3 in the top of the fifth inning.

 

SANFORD 4, CHEVERUS 1: Faith Crosby and Sam Adams combined on a four-hitter and the Redskins (1-1) scored four runs in the fourth to down the Stags (0-1) at Sanford.

Allison Legere squeezed home Crosby to make it 2-1 and Christine Tovey added a two-run single two batters later.

Crosby allowed a run on three hits in five innings. Adams got the save with three strikeouts and no walks in two innings.

MARSHWOOD 15, MASSABESIC 2: Nicole Harvey tossed a four-hitter and hit a two-run homer as the Hawks (1-1) downed the Mustangs (0-2) in six innings at South Berwick.

Sammy Crosman hit an RBI triple for Marshwood and added a two-run single in the sixth that ended the game.

Kim Hussey added two hits, including a two-run triple in the fifth. April St. Pierre and Nicole O’Neil chipped in two hits apiece.

MCAULEY 4, BONNY EAGLE 3: Sam Schildroth went 3 for 3 with a double and two RBI for the Lions, who scored three in the fifth to overcome a 3-1 deficit against the Scots in an opener at Portland.

Schildroth tied it with a two-run single and Shelby Bryant drove in the go-ahead run.

Sam Libby struck out 11 and walked six in a two-hitter for McAuley.

Allie Pike had nine strikeouts and two walks in a six-hitter for Bonny Eagle.

 

THORNTON ACADEMY 11, NOBLE 1: Julia Geaumont allowed just two hits and finished with 12 strikeouts and two walks as the Trojans (1-0) defeated the Knights (1-1) at North Berwick.

Michelle Cote knocked in two runs for the Trojans while Meghan Agger launched a solo home run.

 

GREELY 14, POLAND 2: Katie Whittum and Caroline Hamilton had four hits apiece to lead Greely (2-0) to a mercy-rule win over the Knights (0-2) at Poland.

Lindsey Arsenault added three hits for the Rangers and winning pitcher Danielle Cimino struck out six in five innings.

 

WELLS 4, FALMOUTH 3: Sabrina Link hit a two-run double during a three-run second inning that gave the Warriors a 4-0 lead as they held on to edge the Yachtsmen in an opener at Wells.

Kelsey Bragdon scattered seven hits to earn the complete-game victory for Wells.

Falmouth’s Kelsey Freedman struck out nine while pitching a four-hitter.

BIDDEFORD 5, WESTBROOK 2: Sarah Gilblair allowed two runs on three hits while striking out 12 batters for the Tigers (2-0) in a win over the Blue Blazes (0-1) at Westbrook.

Kayla Tibbetts was also having a strong outing for Westbrook until she ran into trouble in the fifth inning where she surrendered four runs on two hits, three walks, a wild pitch and an error. Tibbetts struck out 11 batters before being relieved.

Kristina McCurry had two of Biddeford’s three hits.

 

SCARBOROUGH 13, WINDHAM 1: Abby Rutt led Scarborough with a grand slam and a three-run homer for a total of seven RBI for the Red Storm (1-1) in a win over the Eagles (0-1) at Windham.

Scarborough’s Mo Hannan struck out 12 batters and allowed one run on two hits and a walk before being relieved in the fifth. Hannan also had three hits, including two doubles, while teammate Marissa O’Toole had four hits including a double.

FRYBURG ACADEMY 18, YORK 1: Sarah Harriman struck out 13 batters while pitching a one-hitter and also went 3 for 5 with a pair of triples as the Raiders (2-0) downed the Wildcats (0-2) in five innings at York.

Marquis MacGlashing scored for York when she was hit by a pitch and stole second base, third base and home.

 

CARRABEC 11, BOOTHBAY 8: Ashlee Knight had a double and a triple to help the Cobras get by the Seahawks in an opener at Boothbay Harbor.

SACOPEE VALLEY 19, NYA 2: The Hawks produced 15 hits to overpower the Panthers at South Hiram.

The Hawks scored seven runs in the first and were up 16-2 after three.

LACROSSE

MASSABESIC 6, CHEVERUS 5: Nikki Smith scored her third goal of the game to give the Mustangs a 6-4 lead late in the second half and Massabesic held on to edge the Stags in an opener at Fitzpatrick Stadium.

Michaela Weeks scored three goals to pace Cheverus.

GORHAM 23, MCAULEY 6: Mia Rapolla scored nine goals and made one assist as the Rams downed McAuley at Gorham.

Chelsea Black added five goals and two assists for Gorham. Lindsey Smith added three goals and Katelyn Seehusen two.

Mary Lesure led the Lions with two goals and an assist.

 

WESTBROOK 10, BONNY EAGLE 9: Katie Conley scored four goals for Westbrook as the Blue Blazes won at Buxton.

The Scots got four goals from Sam Campobasso and three from Katie Boyer.

SCARBOROUGH 15, SANFORD 4: Maggie Smith and Mary Scott scored three goals apiece for Scarborough in a win at Sanford.

Taylor LeBorgne added two goals for the Red Storm, who led 11-1 at halftime.

 

KENNEBUNK 8, THORNTON ACADEMY 5: Camille Auger scored three goals for the Rams in an opener at Saco.

Teammate Taylor Crowley also had a strong game with two goals.

Erin Kany and Michelle Giroux each scored twice for the Trojans.

 

WINDHAM 12, DEERING 11: Sam Gifford scored seven goals, including what proved to be the winner, as the Eagles built a 12-9 lead and held off a late charge by the Rams in an opener at Windham.

Kayla Vachon led Deering with four goals.

 

MARSHWOOD 15, NOBLE 2: Erica Sedler collected five goals and two assists and Janay Wright added four goals and three assists as the Hawks cruised past the Knights in an opener at South Berwick.

Shelby Minihane chipped in with two goals and three assists for Marshwood, which led 10-2 at halftime.

Noble got one goal apiece from Chandler Waterman and Kayla Lambert.
