Greater Portland USTA Junior Team Tennis League is taking registration for its summer league that will play from June 21 to Aug. 4. Players can register individually or as a team. Players compete in age divisions, 14 and under and 18 and under. Each team will play at least one match per week. Twilight League baseball tryouts for all six teams will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 29, at Frozen Ropes Training Center & Portland Sports Complex on Warren Avenue. There is a $10 tryout fee. The league is open to any player who turns 19 by Aug. 1 or has spent the 2010-11 academic year in college or prep school. The 10th annual Women’s Ride sponsored by the Bicycle Coalition of Maine will take place June 5 at L.L. Bean’s Casco Conference Center on Casco Street in Freeport. Staggered times for the race begin at 8 a.m. The ride has four distance options: 5, 15, 20 and 50 miles. The all-female ride is suited to girls and woman of all ages and fitness levels. Registration is $35 for members and $45 for non-members with a $10 discount for those ages 12-17 or over 65. Girls 11 and under ride free. The seventh annual SMCC athletics golf tournament will be held June 21 at Prouts Neck Country Club in Scarborough. The cost is $500 for a foursome, and includes greens fee, cart, box lunch, post-tournament reception and prizes. Individual players can sign up for $125 and will be paired up on a team. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the tournament will tee off at 10. Proceeds from the tournament will help fund the athletic program at SMCC. Registration is being taken for the Thornton Academy overnight boys’ basketball camp from July 24-28. The cost is $225 and the camp is open to boys entering grades 7, 8 and 9.
