The Maine Marathon Kids’ Mile will be held at Portland’s Back Cove on Oct. 1 at 10 a.m. Participants must be 7 to 12 years of age on the day of the race. The entry fee is $10 prior to Sept. 19 and $12 after. Registration is at

Point Guard Basketball Camp is scheduled Sept. 25 at Central Maine Community College in Auburn. Girls will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and boys from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Ages for the camp are 12 through 17. Cost is $50, but advance registration is $40. Nasson Community Center is offering Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day at McDougal Orchards in Springvale on Oct. 1 from 9 a.m. to noon. This is a free event and will include a bike, apparel, raffles and snacks. Nasson Community Center has a limited supply of bikes and helmets for use at the event so call ahead to reserve one, if needed, at 324-5657.
