SCARBOROUGH – Kelsey Howard set up both goals for Scarborough in a 2-1 victory Tuesday over Bonny Eagle in an SMAA field hockey game.

Howard had assists on goals by Lindsay Dobecki and Maddie Dobecki to help the Red Storm improve to 2-0.

Jordan Ray scored a late goal for the Scots (0-1-1).

Shannon Hicks, Carly McLellan and Rebecca Mitchell combined for five saves in goal for Scarborough. Caitlyn Dyer had 17 saves for Bonny Eagle.

 

CHEVERUS 2, DEERING 0: Alex Logan and Staci Swallow each scored to lead Cheverus (2-0) past host Deering (0-2) at Portland.

Logan gave the Stags the lead three minutes before halftime and Swallow added a goal with 22 minutes remaining.

Deering goalie Caley Presby made 27 saves.

 

THORNTON ACADEMY 2, WINDHAM 1: Morgan Ouellette-Foss scored with 7:16 left to lift the Trojans (1-1) over the Eagles (1-1) at Windham.

Windham took the lead when Sarah Skvorak scored with an assist by Molly McVetty with 27:30 left.

Morgan Dube answered for Thornton with 25:01 left.

Windham goalie Andrea Feeney made 12 saves.

 

MASSABESIC 5, GORHAM 1: Sam Emmons had two goals to lead the Mustangs (2-0) over the Rams (0-1-1) at Gorham.

After Allie Sturgis gave Gorham a 1-0 lead, Jackie Guillemette answered and the Mustangs took control.

Kaitlyn Bergeron and Allie Braley also scored for Massabesic, and goalie Courtney Picone had five saves.

Patty Smith stopped 11 shots for Gorham.

MARSHWOOD 3, PORTLAND 1: Lindsey Poirier had a goal and an assist as the Hawks (1-1) downed the Bulldogs (0-2) at South Berwick.

Ashley Tice and Emily Osborne added goals for Marshwood. Natalia Bachelder had two assists.

Portland’s goal was scored by Raechel Allen.

 

MCAULEY 2, BIDDEFORD 1: Liz Houston scored unassisted midway through the second half to lift McAuley (1-1) over the Tigers (0-2) at Biddeford.

MT. ARARAT 0, LEWISTON 0: Ravon Palmer made 16 saves for Lewiston (1-0-1) and Raven Demasi stopped 14 shots for Mt. Ararat (0-1-1) at Topsham.

 

GREELY 1, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 0: Julia Maine scored from Sasha McLean as Greely (2-0) beat visiting Fryeburg Academy (1-1).

BRUNSWICK 5, ERSKINE ACADEMY 0: Anna Cowan had a goal and an assist as Brunswick (2-0) shut out Erskine Academy (1-1) at Brunswick.

Cassandro Murano, Allison Hill, Paige Tetu and Dakota Foster each added a goal, and Lauren Thacker made five saves.

Erskine goalie Hattie Welch finished with 14 saves.

 

CAPE ELIZABETH 4, WELLS 1: Melanie Vangel had three goals to lead the Capers (2-0) past Wells (0-2) at Cape Elizabeth.

Lizzie Raftice opened the scoring for Cape midway the first half. Vangel upped the lead to 2-0 before Sophie Lamb scored for the Warriors just before halftime.

FALMOUTH 9, LAKE REGION 0: Caitlin Bucksbaum had two goals and an assist and McKenzie Meyers scored twice as the Yachtsmen (2-0) cruised past the Lakers (1-1) at Falmouth.

Sarah Hogan, Mary Catherine Kowalski, Annie Criscione, Cassie Darrow and Angie Mallis also scored, and Darrow and Mallis each added an assist.

Falmouth keeper Caroline Lucas recorded five saves for the shutout. Lake Region goalie Emily Bartlett made 17 saves.

 

GREELY 7, POLAND 0: Julia Mitiguy led a balanced offense for the Rangers (2-0) with two goals as they defeated the Knights (0-2) at Cumberland.

Sammi Torrish, Libby Thomas, Kristina Volta, Holly Rand and Leah Young also scored and Audrey Parolin had three assists.

Caton Beaulieu needed three saves for the shutout. Haley Whitworth stopped 13 shots for Poland.

 

SANFORD 9, BONNY EAGLE 0: Hannah Kallis scored three goals and Sanford (1-0) took a 5-0 halftime lead to get past Bonny Eagle (0-2) at Sanford.

Katelyn Fink had two goals and Taylor Littlefield, Morgan Fogg, Allison Legere and Kayla Cote added one each. Legere and Julie Caron each had two assists.

Scots goalie Marisa Butler made 26 saves.

SACOPEE VALLEY 1, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 0: Kayla Brown scored on a high 18-yarder midway through the first half to lift the Hawks (1-1) over the Panthers (0-1) at South Hiram.

Shelly Pellegrino made 10 saves behind Sacopee’s defensive line of Alexis Toolin, Morgan Sanborn and Ciara Myer. Scout Fischman stopped six shots for NYA.

 

FREEPORT 2, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 1: Ashley Richardson split the defense late in the second half for a breakaway goal that lifted Freeport (1-1) over the Patriots (0-1-1) in Gray.

Richardson gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead in the first half, and Taylor Darnell tied it early in the second.

Freeport goalie Abby Roney and Sammie Wilkins of the Patriots each made 14 saves.

VOLLEYBALL

SCARBOROUGH 3, KENNEBUNK 0: Meghan McAlary served the entire third set, scoring 24 points with 13 aces, as Scarborough (3-0) beat visiting Kennebunk (1-1) in straight sets, 25-12, 25-18, 25-0.

Brittany Bona had 13 kills and Emily Robbins had 14 assists for the Red Storm.
