LEWISTON – Celeste Swain scored with 1:53 left in regulation to lift Bowdoin to a 2-2 tie against Bates in a New England Small College Athletic Conference women’s soccer game Wednesday.

Tina Tobin gave the Bobcats (0-1-1, 0-1-1 NESCAC) the lead in the 14th minute off a pass from Dakota Donovan. The Polar Bears (1-1-1, 0-1-1) tied the game in the 23rd minute when Toni DaCampo headed in a corner kick by Swain.

Donovan then scored for Bates in the 52nd minute.

USM 1, UM-FARMINGTON 0: Midfielder Tara Moore knocked in a loose ball with 4:20 left in the second overtime to lift the Huskies (2-3) over the Beavers (1-1-1) at Gorham.

Kat Rothe earned the shutout with five saves, including one against Abbey Gilbert with 20 seconds left in the first OT.

SMCC 4, CMCC 1: Cady Gagnon, Bethany Gullbrand and Noelle Cooper scored second-half goals to lead the Seawolves (1-1) past the Mustangs (1-3) at Auburn.

COLBY 2, UNE 1: Emily Anderson scored off a cross from Grace Dickinson in the 62nd minute to lift Colby (2-0) over the Nor’easters (4-1) at Biddeford.

Katie Marshall gave UNE a 1-0 lead 30 minutes into the first half with a header off a 35-yard free kick by Nicole Faircloth.

The Mules tied it on a goal by Cami Notaro 1:43 later.

ST. JOSEPH’S 6, SUFFOLK 2: Doe Leckie and Danielle Daigle each had a goal and an assist as the Monks (2-1-1, 1-0-1 GNAC) beat the Rams (2-2, 0-1) at Standish.

Kelsea Marchand, Kim Jordan, Catherine Murch and Katherine Chambers also scored for the Monks.

MEN’S SOCCER

BATES 3, UM-FARMINGTON 1: John Murphy scored two goals for the Bobcats (1-1), who rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit against the Beavers (2-1) at Farmington.

SMCC 3, CMCC 2: Peter Dorer and Jonathan Coyne scored three minutes apart in the second half as the Seawolves (3-2, 3-0 YSCC) overcame a 2-1 halftime deficit against the Mustangs (2-1-1, 2-1-1) at Auburn.

COLBY 3, HUSSON 1: Eric Barthold and Andrew Wooton scored in the second half as Colby (1-1) pulled away from Husson (2-3) at Waterville.

FIELD HOCKEY

BOWDOIN 2, WELLESLEY 1: Elizabeth Clegg broke a 1-1 tie at 11:09 of the second half as the Polar Bears (2-0) edged the Blue (4-1) at Wellesley, Mass.

Ella Curren put Bowdoin ahead at 9:16 of the first.

USM 1, UM-FARMINGTON 0: Natalie Harkins scored on a breakaway in the 29th minute and Kayla Kennedy made six saves as the Huskies (3-3) edged the Beavers (1-1) at Gorham.

UNE 1, ST. JOSEPH’S 0: Laura Egounis scored from Casey Clark with 3:03 remaining to lift the Nor’easters (6-0) over the Monks (2-1) at Standish.

HUSSON 3, BATES 2: Mariah Arno scored on a penalty corner with 48 seconds remaining to lift the Eagles (3-1) over the Bobcats (1-1) at Bangor.

Caroline Falcone and Sarah Merullo had goals for Bates.

BASEBALL

SMCC 5, CMCC 2: Josh Leitson pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the sixth to earn his second save as the Seawolves (4-0) held off CMCC at Auburn.

Matt Turnage had a two-run homer for SMCC.

SOFTBALL

SMCC 4, CMCC 1: Alyssa Payne had a triple and two RBI and Emily Bard pitched a two-hitter to help the Seawolves open the season with a win over the Mustangs at Auburn.
