LEBANON — A 35-year-old man faces charges for allegedly causing a police standoff at his home in Lebanon.

Maine State Police say Jason Pelletier was charged Thursday night with criminal threatening and possession of a firearm by a felon after police were kept at bay for more than four hours at his home on Upper Guinea Road.

The standoff began at about 2 p.m. after Pelletier refused to admit a trooper who was checking on the well-being of Pelletier’s 7-year-old son.

Police say a tactical team was called after the confrontation escalated when Pelletier brought his dog into the dispute.

Police say Pelletier released his son a short time later and surrendered at 6:30 p.m. No guns were involved in the incident, but police later found firearms inside the house.
