LEWISTON — A stone memorial to Lewiston firefighters who’ve lost their lives in the line of duty is being dedicated in front of the City’s Central Fire Station.

For at least 25 years, the names of nine fallen firefighters have been listed on a plaque inside the station. But about a year ago, Lewiston firefighters decided they wanted a larger, more public memorial.

The two-and-a-half ton granite monument being dedicated today stands more than 7 feet tall and more than 6 feet wide and is engraved with the names of the nine Lewiston firefighters killed in the line of duty over the last century.
