AUGUSTA — A presentation of service medals to a World War II veteran will also mark his recent 90th birthday.
Harry Grim’s award presentation and celebration of his birthday will take place near the tank at Camp Keyes in Augusta today at noon.
Grim, of Gardiner, earned four Battle Stars during his World War II service, along with the American Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was a medium tank driver during the European and North Africa campaigns and was promoted to technician 5th grade.
Command Sgt. Maj. Terrence Harris, the highest ranking enlisted soldier in the Maine National Guard, and Sgt. Maj. Shawn Thibodeau of the Maine Army National Guard will present the World War II award to Grim and his family.
