CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Brittany Dougherty had three goals and an assist to lead the University of Maine to a 5-2 win over Boston College in a Hockey East game Sunday.

Brittney Huneke and Dominique Goutsis also scored. Myriam Croussette and Dawn Sullivan each had two assists for the Black Bears (6-4, 2-2 Hockey East)

The Eagles (5-2-1, 2-1-1) outshot Maine 33-16.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

SMCC 95, NOVA SCOTIA 47: Josh Mackie scored 23 points to lead the Seawolves (1-1) to a win over Nova Scotia University in the Can-Am tournament at Auburn.

Emmanuel Donalson added 18 points for the Seawolves. Jake Loveridge scored 10.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

SMCC 62, NOVA SCOTIA 57: Marissa Welch had 18 points and 13 rebounds as Southern Maine Community College held off Nova Scotia University in the Can-Am Tournament at Auburn.

Emily Bard also scored 18 points for the Seawolves. Jessica Truman added 11.

FOOTBALL

AP TOP 25: Clemson and Kansas State tumbled in The Associated Press poll after losing for the first time this season, and the top five teams in the rankings held their ground heading into the showdown between No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Alabama.

Clemson slipped from sixth to 11th after losing 31-17 at Georgia Tech, and Kansas State fell seven spots to No. 17 after getting thumped 58-17 by Oklahoma.

LSU received 47 first-place votes from the media panel, Alabama had 10 and No. 5 Boise State had one.

No. 3 Oklahoma State and No. 4 Stanford held on to their spots after victories, while Boise State was idle.

Georgia Tech’s upset pushed the Yellow Jackets back into the rankings at No. 22 and Auburn jumped back in at No. 25.

The losses by Clemson and Kansas State leave six undefeated teams in major college football — the top five and No. 14 Houston.
