PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — Police have arrested an 81-year-old New Hampshire man in connection with rape and incest charges dating back to the early 1970s.
Police in Portsmouth say the charges were filed after a woman told them she was assaulted during that time from age 6 through age 14. She said she suffered injuries that continue to require medical treatment.

Souran Manoguian was arrested Thursday on multiple counts of rape, sodomy, incest and other charges. He was released on bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on May 7. It was not immediately known if he had a lawyer.
Capt. Corey MacDonald says even though there is a statute of limitations in such cases, police believe that certain aspects of the accusations gave them reason to extend the time.
He said he believes Manoguian can stll do jail time for all 25 offenses, according to the Foster’s Daily Democrat.
“We want to send a clear message to child victims that they can and should come forward,” MacDonald said.
Manougian was released on $250 cash bail and $10,000 personal recognizance bail. He will be arraigned in Portsmouth District Court on May 7.
